Is the screen factory calibrated?
A screen that is accurate out of the box saves you buying a calibration device on day one. Here is how Kuycon panels arrive, and what you can still adjust yourself.
Tuned at the factory
The colour-accurate models ship tuned for a low colour error, ΔE < 2 on the P27Z. In practice that means colours look right the moment you plug in, without a separate calibration step.
A ΔE below 2 is the threshold at which colour differences become hard for the eye to notice, which is why it is the figure professionals look for.
What you can still adjust
On the Mac, macOS lets you choose or fine-tune the colour profile in System Settings, and switch reference profiles for different tasks. The monitor's own menu adds brightness, colour temperature and picture modes.
If your work demands periodic re-calibration, the panel works with standard hardware calibrators, so you can keep it precise over time.

Do I need a calibration device?
Not to start. The panels ship accurate; a hardware calibrator is only needed if your workflow requires periodic re-profiling.
What does ΔE < 2 mean?
It is a measure of colour error. Below 2, differences from the reference are hard for the eye to see, which is the professional target.
